Thriving Mind Staff Attend Child Welfare Bill Signing

Allison Schild, Thriving Mind’s Peer Services Manager, attended the bill signing of SB 7034, which increases the amount of money relative caregivers receive when they take children into their home and also increases the age for youth in care who receive college tuition from the state.

Thriving Mind Reaccredited by Council on Accredita

Thriving Mind Reaccredited by Council on Accreditation

Thriving Mind South Florida, which oversees a safety net of mental health and substance use treatment and prevention services in South Florida, has been reaccredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA).

“COA is proud to recognize South Florida Behavioral Health Network, Inc. dba Thriving Mind South Florida as one of these outstanding providers, and we wish you the very best in your continuing work with the individuals you serve,” Jody Levison-Johnson, President and CEO, wrote in a note to Thriving Mind’s leadership.

The review stated that Thriving Mind received zero “out of compliance ratings in any of the fundamental practice standards.” The accreditation process involved review of nine standards, covering both Administration and Management Standards, and Service Delivery Administration Standards.

"We are very proud of our ongoing accreditation and the outstanding report card we received from the Council on Accreditation. This is a testament to the hard work of our team, and our focus on continuous improvement. We remain extremely grateful for the partnership and sustained efforts of all the healthcare provider organizations in our network," said John W. Newcomer, M.D., Thriving Mind President and CEO.

Thriving Mind first received accreditation by COA in 2018. Seven managing entities serve the state of Florida, overseeing a network of mental health and substance use treatment and prevention providers. Thriving Mind serves Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.

Thriving Mind’s Adilen Cruz, Vice President for Behavioral Health Services, and Joanna Cardwell, Vice President for Continuous Quality Improvement, attended the Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS) Annual Meeting Wednesday. Thriving Mind provides partial funding for 211, which is operated by JCS. 2-1-1 is available 24/7, and is a source for information and resources for health and human services including crisis calls in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Starting this summer, JCS will operate the 988 call line for our area, a new national three-digit phone number for mental health and suicide crises.
