Mobile Response Teams are based at various locations throughout Miami-Dade County and Monroe Counties to aide in getting to callers fast. They do not provide services at their locations.

Thriving Mind South Florida hosted the Care Coordination Workgroup meeting earlier this month, where community providers and their teams receive updates on county and state care coordination initiatives. The meeting also highlights community resources and strengthens collaboration to improve outcomes across our community.

Thriving Mind's Peer Department hosted its Peer/Peer Supervisor Award Ceremony on March 18th at the Thriving Mind offices, bringing together staff, partners, and community members to celebrate excellence in peer support across the region. The event honored two outstanding individuals whose dedication and leadership continue to strengthen and uplift the peer support workforce.
Gloria Castillo of the Federation of Families was recognized as the Peer Award recipient for her exceptional commitment to serving individuals and families, her compassionate approach, and her unwavering advocacy for recovery-oriented care. Her work reflects the heart of peer support and the profound impact peers have on the communities they serve.
Michael Walker of Jackson Health Systems received the Peer Supervisor Award, acknowledging his exemplary leadership, mentorship, and steadfast support of the peer workforce. His guidance has helped elevate peer roles within his organization and contributed to a stronger, more collaborative system of care.
Both honorees were celebrated for their outstanding service to the community and for their contributions to advancing peer support in our region. Meet our Network Providers! Guidance Care Center (GCC) - WestCare , serves as the behavioral health safety net for the Florida Keys providing a full continuum of care including crisis stabilization, outpatient, in-home therapy, withdrawal management, housing supports, and residential care. GCC integrates mental health, substance use, and primary care coordination with specialized programs such as Mobile Crisis Response, Medication-Assisted Treatment, peer support, and jail diversion. @guidancecarecenter

The visit included a tour of the campus which highlighted the vocational programs (culinary, computer science, and maintenance/handyman) which along with the behavioral health treatment provided to individuals, plays a critical role in preparing them for reintegration into the community. @hereshelp

Thriving Mind was honored to attend Attorney General Uthmeier’s press conference at Camillus House announcing strengthened efforts to combat human trafficking given Miami-Dade’s unique vulnerabilities as an international tourism hub hosting multiple large-scale events such as the FIFA World Cup, Miami Open, Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, World Baseball Classic, and Ultra Music Festival.

The initiative includes a first-of-its-kind memorandum of understanding between the Office of Attorney General James Uthmeier, the Office of Statewide Prosecution, and the Office of Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle’s Human Trafficking Task Force, providing $1.5 million in funding to enhance investigations, prosecutions, and victim support services. The press conference also highlighted the roles of Camillus House, Kristi House, and other local organizations providing housing, trauma-informed care, and legal support for victims and their families.

Dr. Steve Proctor is the Program Director of Thriving Mind's Trauma Recovery Network for violent crime victims and their families, supported by a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant from the Office of Attorney General James Uthmeier. Dr. Proctor is pictured with Peer Victim Advocate Specialist Eric Robinson and Care Coordinator Fallon Smith of Thriving Mind.
