Marchman Act

The Marchman Act provides for voluntary admissions and involuntary assessment, stabilization, and treatment of adults and youth who are severely impaired due to substance abuse. More information is available here.

IMPORTANT: Mandatory Forms may NOT be altered.

Baker Act

The Florida Mental Health Act, commonly referred to as the Baker Act, focuses on crisis services for individuals with mental illness, much like an emergency department is for individuals experiencing a medical emergency. More information is available here.

On Nov. 19, Thriving Mind’s Shaymaa Abdrabou, MS On Nov. 19, Thriving Mind’s Shaymaa Abdrabou, MS, CBHCM, Care Coordinator, Florida Department of Corrections Re-Entry Program, and Estefany Velazco, BA, Adult System of Care Administrative Assistant, attended the Reentry Fair at South Florida Reception Center, South Unit. The event was a Reentry Resource Fair for inmates releasing back into the community within the next 90 days. The organizations in attendance represented various needs such as employment, educational/vocational services, probation, family services, mental health, and substance use treatment services.

The site will house its new Full Case Management Agency for child welfare as well as Mobile Response Team. Also in attendance were Violet Ryland, Gilda Ferradaz, and Cristina Perez from the Department of Children and Families, and Esther Jacobo from Citrus Family Care Network; Mario Jardon and Maria Alonso from Citrus Health Network/ Citrus Family Care Network.

The Coordinated Opioid Recovery (CORE) Network is an initiative designed to establish a coordinated system of care for those seeking treatment for opioid use disorder.

The Day of Caring event, hosted by South Florida W The Day of Caring event, hosted by South Florida Wellness, was a beautiful demonstration of unity, joy, and community support. Local agencies came together to serve individuals and families with compassion and dignity. It was truly a day of connection, collaboration, and giving back—showcasing what can be achieved when community partners join together to uplift and support those in need.

Thriving Mind hosted the Department of Children an Thriving Mind hosted the Department of Children and Families and Citrus Family Care Network for a training on Friday at its Miami office. Amber Blak, Citrus Family Care Network’s Assistant Director of Prevention, and Lesline Anglade-Dorleans, DCF’s SNR Child Protection Director, provided an interactive mandated reporter information fair in collaboration with Thriving Mind’s Child Welfare Integration Coordinator Amanda Gill and Children’s System of Care Manager Alisa Surenskaya. Gilda Ferradaz, DCF’s Circuit Community Development Administrator, and Violet Ryland, DCF’s Circuit Community Development Administrator, were in attendance along with representatives with Thriving Mind’s service provider network.
