A report released Wednesday, August 13th, states Two Miami-Dade ZIP Codes Experienced Historic Drops in Homicide. That report cites three community partnerships, including Thriving Mind, that resulted in more safety in the region.

On Nov. 19, Thriving Mind’s Shaymaa Abdrabou, MS, CBHCM, Care Coordinator, Florida Department of Corrections Re-Entry Program, and Estefany Velazco, BA, Adult System of Care Administrative Assistant, attended the Reentry Fair at South Florida Reception Center, South Unit. The event was a Reentry Resource Fair for inmates releasing back into the community within the next 90 days. The organizations in attendance represented various needs such as employment, educational/vocational services, probation, family services, mental health, and substance use treatment services.

The site will house its new Full Case Management Agency for child welfare as well as Mobile Response Team. Thriving Mind offers opioid awareness prevention programs, as well as in-patient treatment. The Coordinated Opioid Recovery (CORE) Network is an initiative designed to establish a coordinated system of care for those seeking treatment for opioid use disorder.

The Day of Caring event, hosted by South Florida Wellness, was a beautiful demonstration of unity, joy, and community support. Local agencies came together to serve individuals and families with compassion and dignity. It was truly a day of connection, collaboration, and giving back—showcasing what can be achieved when community partners join together to uplift and support those in need.
