Thriving Mind South Florida provides prevention of substance abuse and promotion of wellness (positive mental health) services in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties as part of a continuum of behavioral health care for individuals and their families.
Prevention refers to the proactive approach to preclude, forestall, or impede the development of substance abuse or mental health related problems. These strategies focus on increasing public awareness and education, community-based processes, and incorporating evidence-based practices.
The program’s services are designed to prevent the development of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, promoting a general health and well-being.
The vision of the Thriving Mind Prevention System of Care is to provide substance use prevention and wellness promotion services, raise awareness, foster collaboration, and enhance the efforts of community programs and coalitions for the enrichment of youth, families, and communities.

Sondra and Martina at Winn Dixie in Key West discussing the harm/risk associated with allowing teens to drink in their homes with parents. Most parents would not allow teens to drink in their homes, but there are still a few that believe it is safer to allow their teen and friends to drink at their home as a safe alternative to other locations.

Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey Dashboard
Thriving Mind contracts with Behavioral Science Research Institute (BSRI) for a variety of activities, including prevention surveys and data analysis. BSRI create this dashboard with results from the 2020-2024 Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey.
