Meet our Network Providers! Guidance Care Center (GCC) - WestCare , serves as the behavioral health safety net for the Florida Keys providing a full continuum of care including crisis stabilization, outpatient, in-home therapy, withdrawal management, housing supports, and residential care. GCC integrates mental health, substance use, and primary care coordination with specialized programs such as Mobile Crisis Response, Medication-Assisted Treatment, peer support, and jail diversion. @guidancecarecenter

The visit included a tour of the campus which highlighted the vocational programs (culinary, computer science, and maintenance/handyman) which along with the behavioral health treatment provided to individuals, plays a critical role in preparing them for reintegration into the community. @hereshelp

Thriving Mind team members Alisa Surenskaya and Stephanie Madera attended the Community Crisis Continuum Resource Fair hosted by the Department of Children and Families. The event provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen awareness of available behavioral crisis response resources.

Thriving Mind was honored to attend Attorney Gener

Thriving Mind was honored to attend Attorney General Uthmeier’s press conference at Camillus House announcing strengthened efforts to combat human trafficking given Miami-Dade’s unique vulnerabilities as an international tourism hub hosting multiple large-scale events such as the FIFA World Cup, Miami Open, Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, World Baseball Classic, and Ultra Music Festival.

The initiative includes a first-of-its-kind memorandum of understanding between the Office of Attorney General James Uthmeier, the Office of Statewide Prosecution, and the Office of Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle’s Human Trafficking Task Force, providing $1.5 million in funding to enhance investigations, prosecutions, and victim support services. The press conference also highlighted the roles of Camillus House, Kristi House, and other local organizations providing housing, trauma-informed care, and legal support for victims and their families.

Dr. Steve Proctor is the Program Director of Thriving Mind's Trauma Recovery Network for violent crime victims and their families, supported by a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant from the Office of Attorney General James Uthmeier. Studies have found that taking a walk through nature produces measurable benefits for your mental health and may even reduce the risk of depression. The study, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, found that participants who walked for 90 minutes in a natural area showed decreased activity in the region of the brain associated with depression when compared to people who walked in a high-traffic urban setting.
