Disaster Distress Helpline

  • The Disaster Distress Helpline (DDH) provides crisis counseling and support for anyone in the U.S. experiencing distress or other behavioral health concerns related to any natural or human-caused disaster, including public health emergencies.
  • Calls (1-800-985-5990) and texts (text “TalkWithUs” to 66746) are answered by a network of independently-operated crisis centers around the country, who provide psychological first aid, emotional support, crisis assessment and intervention, and referrals to local/state behavioral health services for follow-up care & support. The DDH is a program of the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) administered by the not-for-profit Vibrant Emotional Health. Vibrant also administers the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline for SAMHSA, of which the DDH is a sub-network.
  • The DDH brochure can be viewed and downloaded for distribution at https://store.samhsa.gov/sites/default/files/d7/priv/pep12-ddhbro.pdf. Spanish version available at http://bit.ly/2sEiFGb.

DDH recently released a “Referral Guidelines and FAQ” document that can be viewed and downloaded at https://bit.ly/2z1oNPe; a pdf is also attached.

These signs are of sharpest concern if the new or changed behavior is related to a painful event, loss, or change. Most people who take their lives exhibit one or more warning signs, either through what they say or what they do. Pay attention and listen.

Thank You for Making Key Clubhouse’s Mental Heal Thank You for Making Key Clubhouse’s Mental Health Luncheon a Success.

This past Sunday, Key Clubhouse welcomed over 200 guests to our annual Mental Health Luncheon—and together, we raised over $100,000 to support individuals living with mental illness on their journey to recovery. We were honored to hear from Bethany Yeiser, a national advocate and keynote speaker, and we’re grateful to Rodney Baltimore of HOT 105 for serving as our dynamic MC.

A special thank you to our title sponsor, the Dosal Family Foundation, for their incredible support.

We’re so proud of what we accomplished together—thank you for being part of it!
